Offers land at cheaper rate in Mohali
Government of Punjab in association with CII Northern Region, on 21st November, 2011 organized an exclusive interactive session on the
Growth of IT/ ITeS system in Punjab with
Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan (Kris), Vice President and
Executive Co-Chairman, Infosys. A host of senior
government functionaries including Chief Secretary,
Punjab, industry representatives and academicians were present at the event.
The session covered an informal discussion on various issues relating to promotion of IT & Knowledge Industry and also making a request to Infosys to set up its campus in Punjab. Specifically,
availability of land at the GMADA region in IT City, Mohali and Sector 101 was discussed. Getting the manpower and faculty ready for the next phase of skill development for making them industry ready was discussed in detail with the industry and academic institutions.
Talking on the occasion, Chief Secretary invited Infosys to set up their operations in the State and reiterated all possible assistance to Infosys with quick decision making and facilitation as soon as the IT major conveys its decision to enter the State.
The Punjab Government is willing to go extra mile to woo the country's largest IT Company, Infosys Technologies, to set up its campus in the state. With Infosys having announced its desire to expand its facility in Chandigarh, the Punjab Government is willing to offer land at concessional rates.
Mr Gopalakrishnan emphasized that for future expansion, the company would be certainly looking at growth opportunities in Punjab keeping in view of the success story of Chandigarh Centre with supporting factors such as easy availability of skilled manpower and uncomparable quality of life.
Government of Punjab sanctions Rs 92 crores for
upgradation infrastructure at focal points
Punjab government on November 20 2011, sanctioned Rs. 92 crores to provide all necessary facilities to industrial units established in the focal points and Industrial estates. Instructions have been issued to carry out work on war footing in all the focal points and industrial estates to change the face of focal points across the state. This step is being taken with an aim to provide all necessary facilities to attract more industrial investment.
The related authorities will review the progress of all works in fortnightly meetings and submit reports regarding the development of work. All focal points in the state to be provided with 24 hour electricity as this was the basic need for industry. Besides that water, communication network, street lights and green belts would be upgraded in all focal points.
The biggest amount Rs 22 crore 3 lakh would be spent on focal points in Ludiana and after that Rs 11 Crore 23 lakh would be spent on focal points at Phase 7 and Rs 9 crore 65 lakh on Phase 9 in Mohali. Rs 3 crore 32 lakh would be spent on focal points in Pathankot, Rs 2 crore 98 lakh at Nabha, Rs 2 crore 23 lakh at Amritsar, Rs 3 crore 86 lakh at Dera Bassi, Rs 6 crore 51 lakh at Sri Goindwal Sahib,Rs 6 crore 20 lakh at Malout, Rs 1 crore 96 lakh at Tanda, Rs 1 crore 79 lakh at Nawanshar, Rs 1 crore 97 lakh Chananloun and Rs 2 Crore 74 lakh at focal points and Industrial estates at Bathinda.
Work at Dera bassi and Taran Taran have already been completed and work regarding electricity is in progress. |
